Teletherapy

Research continues to affirm the efficacy of teletherapy, with studies showing meeting virtually is as effective as face-to-face treatments.

What is teletherapy?

Teletherapy is psychotherapy that occurs between a licensed counselor and a client online rather than at a physical location.

How does it work?

Once we’ve decided teletherapy is a good fit for you, it’s important you identify a quiet, comfortable, and private room that is equipped with a computer, reliable internet access, and webcam. I use Spruce Health to conduct safe, confidential, and private counseling sessions.

How is this different than traditional in-person counseling?

Other than not being in the same room together, there is little difference. There are also some advantages to online counseling that are worth mentioning! It is:

  • Accessible - no need to get in your car to go anywhere. Relief is a click away.

  • Appointment flexibility and efficiency - impacts work/school schedules less; no traffic!

  • Sharing online resources in real time

  • Comfortable - settle into your perfect chair in the comfort of your own home.

  • Increased privacy and confidentiality - no public waiting areas.

  • Your pets are at the ready to help you regulate

  • Increased risk-taking and vulnerability in what we talk about

  • Eases stigma

Are videos recorded?

No. There are no permanent videos or voice recording kept of our online sessions. Your privacy and confidentiality are of the upmost importance so great measures are taken to protect them.
